TEHACHAPI COMMUNITY THEATRE

Tehachapi Community Theatre are a non-profit community theatre organization nestled in the Sierra Mountains in the city of Tehachapi located downtown on S. Tehachapi Community Theatre is a joint partnership with the community of Tehachapi and all who love theatre.

Friends of Tehachapi Community Theatre

Partnership remains our philosophy as we begin another season. The partnership with our whole community which has so generously supported our fundraising efforts here in the 11th hour has raised an astounding $53,000, with just $7,000 to go for completion of our new home at the BeeKay Theatre. While the checks have already started to flow out the door purchasing new equipment, we’re confident the remaining funds will flow in during the final weeks.  The City of Tehachapi, City Manager Greg Garrett and the City Council have dedicated so many resources to make the community’s dream of a theatre come true. The BeeKay, gutted by a fire about 15 years ago, was Tehachapi’s original movie theatre, built in the 1930’s. Now reconstructed as a home for live theatre, TCT will manage the building on the City’s behalf, and undertake full responsibility for it’s equipment, seating, maintenance, repair, insurance, utilities and making sure the building is available to the community as much as possible.

We also have a partnership with the TUSD and Superintendent Dr. Richard Swanson. The district is once again providing us with space for classes and workshops. As President of the Board, I too have many partnerships including those with the members and patrons and especially close partnership with my fellow board members who have dedicated many hundreds of hours during the past year to negotiate the plethora of blueprints and contractors and engineers; negotiated with the city and overseen the inevitable hiccups that occur during any construction. I’m in shock and awe whenever I contemplate what TCT has done, and has yet to do over the coming year. And I’m so grateful for all the many partnerships that make it possible.

Thank you Tehachapi for your efforts and a job well done.
